Jill and Ian are partners in both their business and personal lives. They have built The Stamp Man business together for over 20 years. They have also built many friendships with customers during this time.

They are dog lovers, and have a crazy Springer Spaniel called Hamish who is of course Scottish, although an English Springer! Many of their ‘older’ customers will remember their lovely Golden Retriever Sadie, who was, mostly, sensible enough to take to the shop with them, customers still mention her fondly today as she was such a gentle dog.  Hamish on the other hand couldn’t be trusted in the shop, he’d be like a bull in a china shop.

The Stamp Man History

Jill Tuck and Ian Hart are partners of The Stamp Man, retailers of art rubber stamps and craft accessories. The Stamp Man is located in Skipton, North Yorkshire in the UK and has been established for over 20 years, and were at the forefront of the paper crafting craze, before it was even considered a hobby. They were based in a retail shop in Craven Court Shopping Centre in the town centre of Skipton for most of this time but have now moved and concentrate on their online shop and attending shows.

In the beginning their partnership had a different name but it soon changed as their customers unwittingly renamed it! Stamping and using embossing powders was a fascinating concept and Jill and Ian had put together a starter kit that Ian demonstrated all day, every day, for years. Customers would visit their craft stands at shows to watch Ian’s demonstrations of the embossing kit and it was the customer’s children that could be heard saying "I want to go and see the stamp man”. Jill thought it a brilliant re-name for them, and it has remained ever since.

After attending weekend craft fairs the business grew and they had permanent stands during the week at craft centres. Ian was based in Skipton and Jill based in Ilkley. This was over 20 years ago and some of their first customers are still making cards, how wonderful is that! Eventually they moved into a permanent shop in Craven Court Skipton where they stayed for over 17 years before moving to their current location.

During this time, Jill appeared on Create and Craft TV, a 24 hour dedicated craft shopping channel for about 7 years with pre-recorded shows in the beginning before moving on to the live show format. Recently Jill has started a You Tube Channel.

They have offered an mail order service since 1995 and an online shopping service since 1999.
